How would it feel. . .
If you were immersed in nature in your own living space? If you had positive energy radiating off your walls? If you had the feeling of serenity throughout your home?
Hey there! My name is Samantha Kaplan. I am an abstract landscape painter, and my mission is to radiate light and positive energy throughout your home. I strive to create paintings and drawings that capture the beauty and forces that exist in nature. We have a remarkable planet, and it is our job to protect it. Life comes in all shapes, sizes, and forms and it is up to us as humans to celebrate all the world has to offer.
"My mission is to radiate light and serenity into your life and your home."
My Story:
I started to create a series of Abstracted World paintings during my senior year of college. During that time, I was recovering from living through a toxic divorce situation with my parents. That situation taught me that you cannot take anything for granted. There are sometimes situations in our lives that we cannot always control. The best thing we can do is to learn from the struggle. Once my parents finally split up, I was able to think clearly in my own home and see clarity in my life. I learned to be grateful for every blessing that I have in my life.
A few months later, I took a fantastic science class called Exploring the Solar System. This course made me realize how lucky we are to exist in the first place. Based on scientific evidence, we are the only planet in our solar system that has been able to support the most simple to the most complex forms of life. Our planet Earth has been able to support life as simple as microorganisms and bugs to as complex species of plants, trees, animals, and humans. All of this is because we have an atmosphere that consists of an Ozone layer and Greenhouse Gases comprised of Water vapor, Carbon Dioxide, and Methane that maintain the temperature of our planet. We also have liquid water on our planet, and a molten core that drives geologic activity and gives us a magnetic field that protects us from charged particles coming from the Sun, known as "Solar Wind."
The fact that we are the only planet known that has all these life essentials is itself a miracle. After taking this course, I started creating abstracted ecosystems that celebrated life. I wanted people to take a moment to appreciate what surrounds us; to acknowledge the trees emitting oxygen, allowing us to breathe; to notice how decorative the sky can be, dotted with clouds as if someone took a brush and painted them on, or shimmering in a watercolor sunset. I want people to appreciate the moisture in the air that forms the morning dew when life is just beginning to wake up. There is so much beauty surrounding us in the world. You only need to open up your front door to see it, feel it, touch it, and experience it.
Life is a gift. I think so many of us get caught up in our everyday lives that we forget how lucky we are to exist in the first place. It is really up to each of us to make the most of that gift. Follow your purpose in life, take time to get to know who you are as a person, and find what positive impact you can make in the world.
We all have a purpose and a gift to contribute, even if it only involves making a difference in one person's life. Each of us has the power and the ability to make that difference.
Through my work, I hope you can appreciate the beauty that always surrounds you. I hope it inspires you to make a positive change in this world or in someone's life. We're all in this together. Let's never forget that!
