The Release was inspired by the beautiful, powerful oceans in Montauk, NY. Montauk has always held a special place in my heart. It is the one place I have always been able to find clarity in my life. I felt so empowered by the waves and the energy in the air. We all face difficult situations in our lives, and we end up being stronger and wiser because of them. This painting represented letting go of the past and bringing the bright future that was ahead of me, where I could continue to learn and grow.

The Story:

The Release was inspired by the beautiful, powerful oceans in Montauk, NY. Montauk has always held a special place in my heart.  It is the one place I have always been able to find clarity in my life. There is something about this town, where you can easily melt into the sand without a worry in the world.  Whenever I travel to Montauk, I am always inspired and excited by the sea-green oceans that take my breath away.

The Release represents overcoming the harsh and challenging situations that I was facing in my life in 2014. When I started to create this painting, I was overcoming living in a toxic household, with an unstable father who refused to leave, while my parents were in the middle of a divorce. At that time, I would try to take every opportunity to escape from my house so that I could find a piece of sanity. When I went to Montauk that summer, it was like a breath of fresh air, literally and figuratively. I was finally to breathe for the first time in months. I felt empowered by the waves and the energy in the air. We all face difficult situations in our lives, and we end up being stronger and wiser because of them. This painting represented letting go of the past and bringing the bright future that was ahead of me, where I could continue to learn and grow.
